5th Grade Band

Students in the Fifth Grade have the opportunity to join band and learn to play an instrument. Approximately 75% of students “check it out” every fall. Band class is designed to help students succeed from step one; previous experience is not necessary. Children who already play an instrument (such as the piano) will become natural leaders.

Over the course of the month of October, Mrs. Sharon Eddington, Mr. Erick Chittle and Mrs. Smith meet with students to help them decide if they would like to try band, and if so, what instruments they would like to play and/or what instruments would be best for them. Information about the program (including answers to the frequently asked questions, “Where/how do I get an instrument?” and “How does this work with sports dance/scouting/etc.”) is sent home in the fall.
